Meet Amanda

A Family Therapist Helping Kids, Teens, and Parents Find Their Way Back to Calm, Connection, and Each Other

I’m Amanda Smith, MFT

Hey there!

I’ve sat with many families in the moments when things feel fragile…

When parents are carrying more than they let on, and kids are showing their pain in the only ways they know how.

I’m drawn to this work because I believe families deserve support before things break completely. I believe kids deserve to feel understood beneath their behavior, and parents deserve guidance that doesn’t make them feel blamed or shamed.

My work is rooted in presence and attunement. I pay close attention to what’s happening beneath the surface—how stress lives in the body, how emotions build and spill over, how patterns repeat even when no one wants them to. Through relational, body-aware therapy, including somatic work and Brainspotting, I help families gently loosen what’s been holding them in place.

I’ve seen what can happen when people feel safe enough to soften and respond differently. Over time, tension eases. Trust begins to return. And families often rediscover those moments of closeness they thought were gone for good.

My Approach

𓇼

We don’t rely on talking alone.

Alongside conversation, I use Brainspotting, somatic work, play, art, and walking sessions to help kids and adults process stress in ways that feel natural, especially when words are hard to find.

𓇼

We follow your nervous system, not a rigid plan.

Trauma-informed care means sessions move at a pace your body can tolerate, so emotions don’t overwhelm and progress doesn’t come from pushing or forcing insight.

𓇼

Progress often shows up in small, everyday moments.

As stress becomes easier to manage, families often notice fewer blowups, less shutdown, and more room to respond differently—at the dinner table, during transitions, and in hard conversations.

“A calmer home doesn’t come from more control. It comes from creating more safety.”

— Amanda Smith, MFT
